Something else
I have gotten myself a couple of Disney Animator's Collection dolls; Snow-white and Pocahontas.
Of course, they don't have any clothes, so, of course, I am going to give them a good wardrobe. The problem here is that I don't know what they need. Patterns I can make myself, no problems there.
So, I went by the great book, Eva's Dolls and Puppets,by Ulla Dietl, Lis Paludan and Nina Orsted
It is a story of a doll family; mother, father, toddler boy and baby girl, and their dog. The book has instructions to the dolls and all their clothes.
It starts with the wedding day, of course, because back at the 60s all the dolls got a wedding dress :-D
(Besides, how do you think the toddler and the baby arrived, if their parents weren't married? We aren't talking about free love and single parents here.)
I am not going to make wedding dresses to my toddler dolls, I find that practice abominable. But I could make them nice dresses they could attend a wedding in. Or a flowergirl outfit.
Next set of outfits is The Morning. Everyone gets a nightgown, the baby gets a very pretty bed.
Of course my dolls need beds and bed linen.
Then comes a very nice set of underwear to everyone. Everyone also gets a towel and a washcloth. The baby, of course, gets most, because she gets the diapers, a whole outfit with booties and a cap, and a bath hoodie towel thingy.
There's everyday outfit for all seasons. For summer it's beach wear, for autumn the whole family goes in the woods to forage, in the winter they are building a snowman, and then comes Christmas.
I suppose that's a good start :-D
* nightgown, pajamas, slippers, bathrobe/morning robe
* underwear
* spring; cute dress, cardigan, ankle socks, maryjanes, hat
* summer; swimming suit, bath towel, easy summerdress, maybe romper, sandals, sun hat, t-shirt and shorts
* autumn; rain coat, hat and rubber boots, sweater, tweed skirt, tights, tam and jacket, oxfords or loafers
* winter; winter boots, hat, scarf, mittens, winter coat, pants, long sleeve tees, maybe an overall
* Halloween? Easter?
* Flowergirl dress?
I was eyeing an Our Generation doll at Tradera, but didn't win the auction. I prepared a whole wardrobe for her anyway, just to sell her on :-D
But there's a lot of ideas there.
For example, I want to make my doll an active doll, and give her soccer outfit, ice hockey outfit, figure skating outfit, ballet outfit, riding outfit (and a horse, of course), martial arts outfit, snowboard, even golf outfit :-D But not a cheerleader outfit.
I also want her to have a lot of dress-up costumes, like many superheros, Disney princesses, and popular culture characters, like a Hogwarts student uniform :-D
