Barbie and Me

I have never been a doll playing kind of a gal. I got my first Barbie when I was about 5, I think, but it was mostly my big sisters who played with her. I played with plushies and dirt. I played garden in the sand box. I loved to build things with legos and building blocks, but those were "boy toys", and I - obviously - was a girl, so I wasn't supposed to even be interested in playing with them. I was also fascinated by my big brother's steam machine and train set, but, alas... 

When I was about 10 I started sewing clothes to dolls, and making cloth dolls. I still wasn't playing with them, I loved making things. 

Now I'm 50, and I still love making things.

I also want to "collect all things", and with Barbie, it's the original clothes from 50s and 60s. Now, I can't afford them, so I plan making them. 

I was very much inspired by Brittany's project :-D

This blog is to witness and share the project with you.

BTW, I will be using my Julia. I don't own a vintage Barbie doll, and Julia's body has the same proportions, and I got mine naked, so she desperately needs clothes. 

I also plan on making her all the clothes from the tv series, but that will be a later project. I think the outfits on the tv show were pretty amazing, but what would one expect of Diahann Carroll (RIP) :-D She was a classy lady. I think her doll deserves to get the whole wardrobe, also considering that I can give it to her.
But, it's almost 10 years newer, so it have to wait.
